School District History
The Elizabethtown Area School District was founded in 1954 when it was decided that the multiple schools in the area should fall under the leadership of a 22-member board of directors. The district started with the addition of schools in Elizabethtown Borough, West Donegal Township, and Mount Joy Township but Conoy Township’s schools joined a year later.
District Wide School Hours
On a regular school day, students in grades 1 – 6 attend school from 8:50 AM – 3:35 PM, and students in grades 7 – 12 attend school from 7:45 AM – 2:40 PM. Morning kindergarten students attend school from 8:50 AM – 11:35 AM, and afternoon kindergarten students attend school from 12:50 PM – 3:35 PM.
On an early dismissal day, students in grades 1 – 6 attend school from 8:50 AM – 12:35 PM, and students in grades 7 – 12 attend school from 7:45 AM – 11:23 PM. Morning kindergarten students attend school from 8:50 AM – 10:25 AM, and afternoon kindergarten students attend school from 10:55 AM – 12:30 PM.
